Paralegal - Intellectual Property

The Paralegal - Intellectual Property will support attorneys in the IP Litigation practice, acting as the lead paralegal on large, complex cases. This role requires expertise in U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) Section 337 matters and federal district court litigation, including case management, document production, legal research, and trial preparation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee case management for ITC and federal district court litigation, including discovery, Markman hearings, and trial preparation
  • Manage electronic and paper discovery, coordinating depositions, transcripts, trial support, and document productions, including war room setup
  • Conduct legal research, summarize findings, compile case timelines, and liaise with vendors, clients, and government agencies such as USPTO, PAIR, and USITC-EDIs
  • Prepare and file legal documents, including drafting filings, cite-checking, compiling exhibits, and handling electronic court submissions
  • Provide trial support, manage exhibits and expert materials, monitor legal rule changes, and mentor junior paralegals

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 7+ years of litigation experience with a focus on patent and ITC litigation preferred
  • Strong understanding of all stages of the litigation process, especially ITC and USPTO procedures

Required Skills:

  • Expertise in document management and litigation software (DeskSite, Relativity, West Case Notebook, TrialDirector)
  • Strong legal research, case management, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to learn new legal technology quickly

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience preparing and filing electronic court documents, including cite-checking and blue-booking
  • Ability to manage trial logistics, war rooms, and trial exhibits efficiently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on collaboration and problem-solving
