Lead Fund Controller

A leading investment management firm is seeking a Lead Fund Controller to oversee financial reporting, regulatory filings, and audits for a portfolio of registered mutual funds and collective investment funds. This role is hands-on, offering direct fund oversight without administrator involvement, making it ideal for candidates looking to drive financial excellence in a leadership role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage financial reporting, audits, and regulatory filings for registered mutual funds
  • Oversee fund control, operations, treasury, custody, and infrastructure analysis
  • Collaborate with auditors, fund administrators, and prime brokers
  • Lead process automation and operational efficiency improvements
  • Act as a subject matter expert on US GAAP and fund accounting standards

Experience Requirements:

  • 4+ years in fund financial reporting and audit within an asset management firm, fund administration firm, or custodial bank (industry candidates preferred)
  • Registered mutual fund financial reporting experience is required
  • Hands-on expertise in fund control, operations, treasury, custody, and infrastructure analysis
  • CPA designation 
  • Experience with private equity, hedge funds, or alternative investment products is a plus
  • Familiarity with process automation and technology-driven financial analysis is beneficial

Required Skills:

  • Fund Financial Reporting & Audit: Strong knowledge of US GAAP, fund accounting, and regulatory financial reporting
  • Excel & Financial Systems: Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling and analysis
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Ability to manage audits, oversee financial reporting, and interact effectively with service providers

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with Access, Alteryx, or other financial reporting tools
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and drive continuous process improvement
