Director of Fund Accounting, Real Estate – Boston, Massachusetts
We are hiring a Fund Controller to lead fund accounting and investor reporting for a growing real estate investment platform. This role is ideal for a real estate fund accounting leader who owns the close, delivers accurate investor reporting, and can explain fund performance clearly to stakeholders.
Key Details
- Base pay range: $140,000 to 170,000
- Bonus: up to 20 percent annually
- Benefits: health, dental, vision, 401k, and more
- Schedule: hybrid, 4 days onsite in Boston, 1 day remote in a typical week

Responsibilities
- Own the month end and quarter end close for real estate investment funds and related entities
- Prepare and review fund financial statements and supporting schedules
- Deliver investor reporting, capital account statements, and performance reporting
- Manage capital calls, distributions, and waterfall calculations
- Coordinate audits and work directly with auditors and tax providers
- Review journal entries, reconciliations, and close documentation
- Partner with acquisitions and asset management on deal and portfolio activity
- Improve processes, documentation, and reporting timelines
- Provide guidance to junior team members as needed
Required Qualifications
- 7 or more years of accounting experience with real estate investment funds
- Hands on experience with investor reporting plus capital calls and distributions
- Experience with waterfall calculations and fund structures
- Strong close leadership in a multi entity environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA
- Experience in private equity real estate or institutional real estate investment environments
- Prior fund audit ownership and strong external partner management
- Experience improving close processes and reporting controls
