Our long-time partner who is a well-known real estate investment firm, is hiring a Senior Property Accountant to their team due to continued growth. This is a great high-impact portfolio accounting role supporting a New England property portfolio in a collaborative, well-regarded culture. The firm is considering candidates with experience with commercial property accounting experience which lines up with their portfolio of shopping centers and other commercial retail properties. 


Key Details

  • Work Arrangement: Hybrid: 4 days in the Needham, MA office / 1 day remote)
  • Compensation: $110,000-$120,000 base + a 10-20% target bonus
  • Direct Hire job with a great benefits package
  • Real Estate Portfolio: ~20 commercial properties in Massachusetts (within a broader ~60-property New England portfolio)

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day accounting for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Handle GL coding, invoice entry, and routing for approvals.
  • Prepare and post tenant bill-backs in coordination with Property Management.
  • Ensure tenant accounts and vendor payments are coded accurately and kept in good standing.
  • Partner cross-functionally on lease processing, procedures, and lease interpretation questions.
  • Support CAM/RET reconciliations (annual).
  • Assist with annual budgeting and monthly reporting for the portfolio.
  • Support monthly and year-end close activities.
  • Take on special projects as assigned.

Qualifications Needed

  • 3-5+ years of commercial real estate/property accounting experience (the company will not consider accountants without this experience)
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Very strong Excel / Microsoft Office skills.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-starter who can work independently and take ownership of deliverables.
  • Experience with MRI, AvidXchange, or a similar tool is preferred.
