Director of Real Estate Accounting
Our client is seeking a Director of Real Estate Accounting to join a rapidly growing real estate organization known for its collaborative culture. This leadership role will oversee accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial properties, ensuring the accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of financial statements. The role offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of $140,000–$150,000, 20%+ bonus potential, and strong benefits.

Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation and review of financial statements for various stakeholders including clients, lenders, and joint venture partners
- Ensure all accounting practices and reporting comply with applicable agreements and regulations
- Support complex transaction analysis, including acquisitions, dispositions, and debt transactions
- Collaborate with property and asset management teams to develop budgets and forecasts
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of property transactions and ensure seamless system transitions
- Verify the accuracy of lease data and maintain the integrity of accounting systems
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff, providing ongoing training and professional growth opportunities
- Coordinate with auditors and serve as the primary contact for tax and audit engagements
- Drive process improvements to enhance operational efficiency
Credentials
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- CPA or public accounting experience is preferred but not mandatory
Required Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience
- 3–5 years of leadership or team management experience
- Strong knowledge of real estate financial statements, CAM, lease accounting, and escalations
- Experience with Yardi is required; MRI is a plus
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Ability to work effectively in a technology-driven, fast-paced environment
