Assistant Controller, Property Accounting

Key Details:

• Base Pay Range: $140,000 - $150,000
• Bonus eligible up to 20%

Responsibilities

• Lead financial accounting and reporting for a diversified commercial real estate portfolio
• Review and approve monthly, quarterly, and annual property-level financial statements
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls
• Manage, mentor, and develop property accounting and financial reporting teams
• Serve as a key contact for auditors, lenders, and joint venture partners

Credentials

• Valid CPA license preferred but not required
• CPAs or Public accounting experience will be considered a plus

Required Experience and Skills

• Minimum of 7 years of commercial real estate property accounting experience
• At least 3 years of team leadership or management experience
• Proven ability to prepare and review commercial real estate financial statements
• Hands-on experience with real estate accounting systems (Yardi required; MRI preferred)
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Experience with acquisitions, dispositions, and debt financing transactions
• Exposure to institutional or joint venture real estate structures
• Experience supporting system integrations or automation initiatives
