Join a leading organization as a Senior Accountant, responsible for managing financial operations across multiple communities in Connecticut. This role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $90,000, plus a 10% annual bonus target and great benefits. The role provides a blend of remote work and onsite visits, fostering strong relationships with community personnel while supporting financial accuracy and compliance.

Key Details

  • This role involves traveling to the organization's properties within Connecticut for two weeks during each month
  • The time not visiting properties can be worked remotely, with the exception of an annual meeting in Waltham, MA
  • Mileage reimbursement is provided for travel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting and month-end close processes for assigned communities.
  • Prepare and review monthly financial packages, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Reconcile complex accounts such as real estate taxes and expenses.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to community personnel on financial procedures and reporting.
  • Maintain detailed work papers and support Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.
  • Conduct financial reviews and coordinate with community staff to gather necessary data.
  • Visit communities periodically to build relationships and provide financial training.

Credentials

  • Valid accounting or finance degree from an accredited college or university.
  • At least 2 years of relevant accounting experience.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
  • Experience with accounting, billing, and payroll software (e.g., accounting software, ADP)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Experience working with real estate or senior living communities is a plus
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley compliance procedures
  • Ability to handle complex financial analysis and reconciliations
