We are looking for a Help Desk Technician to provide hands-on, customer-first IT support for faculty, staff, and students. This is a high-visibility role where your communication skills matter just as much as your technical troubleshooting ability and where being proactive and team-oriented will set you up for success.
Key Details
- Pay Rate: $24/hour
- Work Arrangement: On-site in Worcester, MA 8am-5pm Monday-Friday
- Environment: Higher education (faculty/staff/student support)
- Job Type: Contract with strong potential to extend and possible conversion
- You'll be part of a supportive, collaborative IT group during a busy, mission-critical time of year.
- You'll build real, transferable desktop support experience in a campus setting, supporting a wide range of users and issues.
- You'll have the chance to learn the organization's processes quickly and become a go-to resource for day-to-day IT support.
- Resolve 15-25 support tickets/day, from sign-in issues to deeper troubleshooting
- Provide desktop support and walk-up/onsite assistance for faculty and staff
- Deploy and set up laptops for new faculty/staff (imaging/configuration as needed)
- Support classroom/AV-related calls in coordination with onsite teammates
- Assist students with Wi-Fi connectivity and basic laptop support
- Handle light account support such as password resets
- Communicate clearly: set expectations, provide updates, and escalate when appropriate
- 1 to 3 years of help desk / desktop support experience (internship experience considered for recent grads)
- Strong customer service skills with a professional, approachable communication style
- Hands-on troubleshooting ability (hardware/software, connectivity, basic account issues)
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Comfortable working fully onsite and moving between buildings throughout the day
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Any exposure to computer imaging and/or Active Directory (password resets, basic support)
