Assistant Controller/Director – $150,000+
A leading organization in the real estate services sector is seeking an Assistant Controller/Director to lead their accounting functions for a portfolio of managed properties. This is a highly impactful leadership role offering a pay range of $140,000-$150,000 annually, plus a bonus of at least 10%. The role provides an opportunity to be part of a growing company with a strong culture and dynamic work environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee preparation and review of financial statements for clients, partners, and lenders.
- Ensure compliance with agreements such as management, joint venture, and mortgage documents.
- Interpret lease documents and support complex transaction analysis.
- Collaborate with property and asset management teams on budgets, forecasts, and reconciliations.
- Manage onboarding and offboarding of acquisitions and dispositions.
- Verify lease data accuracy and maintain system integrity.
- Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff to uphold quality standards.
- Act as a point of contact for tax and audit engagements.
Required Experience and Skills
- 7+ years of commercial real estate accounting experience.
- 3–5 years of leadership or management experience.
- Proficiency in preparing and reviewing financial statements for real estate.
- Experience with Yardi
- Strong understanding of CAM, tax escalations, and lease accounting.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a paperless, virtual environment.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Public accounting background or CPA certification.
- MRI knowledge is a plus.
- Experience in a fast-growing, highly collaborative environment.
