Challenge
The immediate aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic led to intensified healthcare staffing shortages, leaving the Commonwealth with a large need for CNAs, LPNs, RNs, and direct care workers. This period became a perfect storm, with demand surging right around the time that burnout among healthcare workers was at its peak. This created intense operational pressure; when staff left, facilities almost immediately fell below their required ratios or incurred costly overtime. This, naturally, further strained an already exhausted staff.Â
As a result, the Commonwealth needed to bring on a large number of qualified clinicians quickly in a highly competitive candidate market. Before engaging ProPivotal, the Commonwealth relied on multiple staffing agencies and internal recruiting teams, but the complexity of this approach created an inefficient setup and did not address the core problem: finding high-quality professionals in a competitive market, at scale.Â
Solution
ProPivotal’s extensive, established network of high quality healthcare professionals enabled us to immediately begin addressing these challenges. By consistently supplying candidates at scale and supporting a steady onboarding cadence (onboarding on average 10+ candidates per week), ProPivotal stabilized the Commonwealth’s staffing levels.
Key aspects of our staffing program included:
- High-volume, frontline clinical staffing model built to handle surge hiring needs
- Cohort-based weekly onboarding to maintain a steady pipeline
- Rapid-response backfilling to maintain staffing ratios and facility compliance standards
ProPivotal accomplished all of this while also reducing the administrative burden on the Commonwealth. Our approach contributed to reducing vendor logistics and, thus, improved operational efficiency.Â
